Y.W.K – Family Flow

Life slowly begins to make some big changes from the ages of 8 upwards. Tweens and teens years are a period of huge adjustment, with physical and hormonal changes.  Self esteem and confidence can take a hit, and it can be difficult to understand emotions and feelings.

Fully supported, with parents by side, Y.W.K, aims to give children a toolbox in which can be used through these periods of change.

New 4 week course:

‘BALANCE’

Balance offers children and parents a chance to pause and reflect on their week. To process any big emotions and explore tools to use in every day life to find balance in the nervous system and calm and regulate when times feel tough.

Learn about the Nervous System:

We connect to children in a space which feels safe allowing them to freely express both the positives and negatives of their week. We learn what the nervous system is and how it works.

Explore Emotions:

Explore your emotions and where they come from? Where they are felt in the body and how to process them to find balance.

Breathwork:

Using a fun range of breathing techniques such as bumble bee breath, rainbow breath and bubble breathing we connect deeply to the body in explorative breathwork to find balance and connection.

The Breath Work (Pranayama)

We explore a range of short breath work techniques used to calm and reset the nervous system. For both parent and child breathing techniques are taught to help aid in stressful situations and to ease anxieties.

Breath work reminds us what healthy breathing looks like, and better yet, encourages an increased lung capacity. An increased lung capacity means better overall function and can positively impact many other areas of the body.

The Practice:

The practice uses three key principals, to allow both beginners and children to safely read their body, allowing for optimum results. Yoga with Kate is a full body workout in which by adopting the 3 principals; ‘position, pulse and pause’ can be used to fit your own individual pace. The practice recognizes that each body is different and allows for adaptations where needed. It is important that we honour our limitations and in doing so honour our body.
